JOB DESCRIPTION

The Network Development Negotiation Manager is a key leader within Delta Dental's Network Development team, responsible for retaining and strengthening the dental provider network through effective, value-based negotiation that supports providers, members, and Delta Dental. This role leads a team of Network Development Specialists and drives strategies that ensure a sustainable, high-quality dental network through thoughtful negotiation, provider engagement, and collaborative partnerships.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Network Development Specialists, using data-driven performance insights to strengthen provider retention, negotiation outcomes, and recruitment/contracting effectiveness.
  • Drive negotiation strategies through quantitative analysis, balancing provider sustainability, member access metrics, and Delta Dental's business objectives.
  • Oversee day-to-day team operations, leveraging operational dashboards and KPIs to guide staffing decisions, goal setting, performance management, and professional development.
  • Develop and implement tools, training, and best practices that incorporate data analytics to enhance negotiation effectiveness and provider engagement.
  • Plan and execute provider recruitment and retention strategies, using measurable results, trend analysis, and performance reporting to refine and optimize approaches.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with dental providers, and internal partners.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and internal teams by providing analytical input that supports strategic network growth and long-term retention initiatives.
  • Analyze market trends, provider feedback, and competitive intelligence to shape negotiation strategies and inform broader network development decisions.
  • Participate in meetings, committees, and provider-focused events to represent data-supported market insights and performance trends.
  • Support annual operating plans and budgets through data modeling, and forecasting data analytics that align with network development and retention goals.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree preferred. 8 years' experience with 2+ years of experience in Network Development or Provider Relations within a managed care or healthcare environment; 1+ year of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Proven experience managing a team responsible for developing and executing provider fee negotiation strategies, with the ability to influence providers and internal partners at all levels.
  • Experience serving as a liaison between providers and the organization, including analyzing market trends and provider feedback to inform strategy.
  • Proven ability to lead teams and collaborate cross-functionally, supported by strong organizational, analytical, and people-management skills.
  • Demonstrated expertise in advanced Excel and analytical tools, with the ability to manage, interpret, and extract insights from large and complete data sets.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and consultative skills.
  • Knowledge of CDT codes and dental nomenclature preferred, familiarity with dental processing policies a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience developing data driven business plans and managing budgets, including forecasting, variance analysis, and using financial insights to guide strategic decision making.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, maintain confidentiality, and work effectively in a secure remote setting.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed, including overnight and air travel.

Base Pay Information

The national base pay range at the end is a good-faith estimate of what Delta Dental may pay for new hires. Actual pay may vary based on Delta Dental's assessment of the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, certifications, and ability to meet required minimum job qualifications. Other factors impacting pay include prevailing wages in the work location and internal equity.
Pay Grade 21. $81,300- $176,000
