Summary

The SAP Configuration Analyst is responsible for supporting NYPA's SAP financial application and its related modules. This role is critical for coordinating and executing recurring system maintenance activities, including modifications to system functionality (system configuration) to meet NYPA's business requirements. The analyst ensures that these modifications are thoroughly tested within the SAP environment.



Responsibilities include developing test plans, coordinating testing activities related to SAP legal compliance patches, and managing system upgrades in collaboration with end-users. The analyst will also facilitate the transition of applications from implementation to post-implementation support, including providing training and user assistance programs. They will review system requirements and business processes, and are expected to code, test, debug, and implement software solutions. The role requires the ability to analyze, diagnose, recommend, and implement best practice solutions to resolve business process issues.



Additionally, the SAP Configuration Analyst will troubleshoot problems, generate periodic reports, and conduct data analysis. They will focus on process improvement and automation and engage in customer liaison activities as appropriate. The analyst is also tasked with planning and managing small-scale system development and implementation projects that affect the SAP financial systems environment. This includes providing system design and configuration support for SAP/ERP finance applications and related modules, developing conceptual designs for solutions, and making necessary changes to system rules.



The analyst will participate in the upgrade of finance and billing application modules, manage end-user activities, make design-related decisions as appropriate, and delegate assignments to billing and accounting staff to achieve project objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Provides the technical skills needed to implement, support, maintain, and improve hardware and software solutions.
  • Provide support and management of core Directory Services platforms (Active Directory, DNS, etc)
  • Perform operational management of key infrastructure platforms and services like M365, VMware, storage, Cloud (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS)
  • Assist in design and operations of DaaS and End-user services engineering
  • Work cross-functionally with other teams and stakholders during incidents and changes while adhering to established ITSM protocols and processes.
  • Ensure the performance and reliability of business systems through proactive monitoring.
  • Provide technical guidance to lower level staff.
  • Monitor and maintain capacity and performance metrics for system features, recommend and take corrective/preventative actions.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of solutions.
  • Proactive communications with appropriate IT staff and users on technology changes that will impact work processes.
  • Recommend, develop, and support continutious improvement of IT operations through tasks automation and scripting.
  • Ensure core infrastructure resiliency and support of Business Continuity Processes and Disaster Recovery exercises

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Must be aware of changes and advancements in the industry and develop industry-wide expertise.
  • Technical knowledge of all phases of software implementation and support
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication across multiple IT teams.
  • Competent to work at the highest technical level on all phases of system implementations and support
  • Demonstrated ability to provide high quality solutions based on comprehensive analysis. .
  • Persuasive with strong negotiating skills is also critical.
  • Understanding of how NYPA interacts with outside organizations, including other utilities and regulatory agencies, and with its customers. Additionally, must be familiar with NYPA's budgets, costs, and policies.
  • Demonstrated proficiency on the M365 platform and services, virtualization technologies, storage and compute, cloud platforms, and infrastructure services like Active Directory, DNS, etc.
  • Experience with scripting languages and automation tools


Education, Experience and Certifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required. IT related field preferred.
  • 4 years of related experience preferred.
  • 2 years in an applications development and support environment preferred.


Physical Requirements

May be required to take trips to NYPA facilities to address issues. May be required to travel overnight to NYPA facilities. May be required to travel to NYPA's hot-site as part of NYPA's Disaster Recovery/Business Continuance Hot-Site procedures.

The salary offered will be determined based on the successful candidates' relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
