Reports To: Training Manager

Position Summary

The Welding Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality welding instruction and hands-on training across multiple welding disciplines. This role supports workforce development, customer training, and internal skill advancement by combining real-world field experience with structured instructional methods.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned welding professional with extensive manual and robotic welding experience, strong communication skills, and a passion for teaching. This is a salaried position with competitive compensation, reflecting the technical expertise and leadership expected in the role.



Key Responsibilities

Instruction & Training Delivery



  • Deliver classroom and hands-on instruction in manual welding processes, including:

    • MIG (GMAW)
    • TIG (GTAW)
    • Laser welding


  • Provide instruction and operational training in robotic welding systems
  • Develop, prepare, and deliver training curricula aligned with industry standards and company needs
  • Demonstrate proper welding techniques, safety practices, equipment setup, and troubleshooting
  • Evaluate trainee performance and provide constructive feedback to support skill development



Curriculum & Program Development



  • Assist in the development and continuous improvement of welding training programs
  • Ensure training content aligns with AWS standards, industry best practices, and company objectives
  • Support certification preparation and testing where applicable



Safety & Compliance



  • Promote and enforce welding safety standards and best practices
  • Ensure training activities comply with applicable safety regulations and quality standards



Collaboration & Support



  • Work closely with the Training Manager and other instructors to coordinate schedules and resources
  • Support internal teams, customers, and partners through specialized training sessions as needed
  • Maintain accurate training documentation, attendance records, and certification tracking

Qualifications

Required Qualifications



  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) - required
  • Extensive field experience in:

    • Manual welding (MIG, TIG, Laser)
    • Robotic welding systems


  • Proven ability to teach, mentor, and communicate technical concepts effectively
  • Strong knowledge of welding codes, standards, and quality requirements
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills



Preferred Qualifications



  • Certified Welding Educator (CWE) - highly recommended
  • Prior instructional, training, or mentoring experience
  • Experience developing or refining welding training curricula



Skills & Competencies



  • Strong technical expertise across welding processes and equipment
  • Ability to adapt instruction to varying skill levels and learning styles

  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement



Physical Requirements



  • Ability to stand for extended periods during instruction and demonstrations
  • Ability to lift welding equipment and materials as required
  • Ability to work in a shop and training-lab environment
