Itron is looking for a Revenue Principal with strong technical revenue accounting knowledge. If you are a Revenue Principal, Revenue Manager, or revenue subject matter expert interested in a strategic and influential role within a global technology leader supporting the utilities and energy sector, Itron, Inc. has an outstanding opportunity. We are a U.S.-based public company with complex, multi-element arrangements-including hardware, software, professional services, SaaS, managed services, extended warranties, and maintenance. This role can be based in Liberty Lake, WA; Austin, TX; or Raleigh, NC, and offers the chance to join an energetic and creative management team that values innovation, collaboration, and a customer-centered mindset. As a key member of our Revenue and Cost of Sales Accounting team, you will own complex revenue recognition activities under ASC 606 and play a critical role in strengthening our global revenue processes. You will lead reviews of complex contracts and ASC 606 models, while contributing to a high-performing, inclusive, and agile team.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret customer contracts to identify terms and conditions impacting revenue recognition.

  • Develop and maintain ASC 606 revenue recognition models with a focus on consistency, accuracy, and innovation.

  • Perform detailed quality reviews of ASC 606 journal entries.

  • Ensure timely, accountable execution of monthly and quarterly revenue close activities.

  • Manage SOX compliance for revenue recognition-related controls.

  • Maintain accurate forecasts of revenue recognition adjustments while analyzing, interpreting and clearly explaining forecast-to-actual variances to stakeholders.

  • Support internal and external audits with professionalism and clear documentation.

  • Collaborate closely with Deal Desk and while building strong working relationships across Finance and nonFinance teams, including Sales, Legal, and Operations.

  • Apply ASC 606 technical accounting guidance to company-specific revenue scenarios.

  • Partner with Deal Desk on contract, amendment, and SOW reviews to ensure GAAP and company policy alignment.

  • Identify, articulate, and document complex revenue accounting matters for stakeholders and auditors.

  • Mentor and support revenue team members across multiple locations.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.

  • Effective leadership, delegation, and prioritization skills with experience in large teams.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and multitasking abilities with high accountability.

  • Strategic thinker with sound judgment and continuous improvement mindset.

  • Ability to build cross-functional relationships and work collaboratively across teams.

  • Adaptability and agility in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, especially ASC 606 revenue recognition guidance.

  • Ability to improve processes and independently address complex issues.

  • Proficient in Excel.

  • 7+ years of accounting experience with complex revenue recognition.

  • Applied understanding of ASC 606 and hands-on revenue recognition experience.

  • Experience working with distributed teams across multiple locations.

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Public accounting (big four preferred).

  • CPA preferred.

  • FP&A experience.

  • Experience with Oracle, Alteryx, Power BI, Power Automate, or AI tools.

The successful candidate's starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills and experience and may vary by location. The base salary is $96,000-$184,000 annually. This position is eligible for our annual bonus program.
