Salary Grade: T26

Position Summary
This position is responsible to supervising the 24-hour operations on the hospitals physical plant. Any leaks and repairs to steam lines, water systems, gas systems and pneumatic tube inside of the hospital are under the supervision of this position. Operation of these systems is essential to provide the hospital buildings with utilities and services for patient care. This supervisor is also responsible for maintaining documentation of the plant required by multiple overseeing bodies including the Joint Commission.

Job Details
* This position requires the following background checks: Department of Motor Vehicle background check.
* This position is 100% ONSITE.

Required Education & Experience
*Bachelor's degree and a minimum of three (3) years of institutional mechanical trades supervisory experience.
*An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills and Abilities
*Demonstrated knowledge of HVAC & MEP piping system, fire protection and all related systems common to hospitals, labs, & higher education facilities.
*Knowledge of fabrication of related piping and various materials and joining methods.
*Understanding of State and City of Philadelphia codes, and Joint Commission requirements.
*Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills along with the ability to effectively communicate with a diverse population.
*Knowledge of project management and the ability to establish priorities.
*Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, steam, closed loop chilled water systems, hot water systems and refrigeration principles.
*Ability to continually re-assess work assignments and re-direct work force to address problems or situations in areas of higher acuity is required.
*Ability to develop strong relationships / interact closely and ability respond to all levels of Health System Administration and Clinical Leadership is required to be successful in this role.
*Ability to resolve complex problems within area of expertise. *Provides guidance to others in decision-making process within area of technical expertise.
*Applies creativity and encourages innovation to problem resolution and work processes within general parameters

Preferred Education & Experience
*Philadelphia Class A Engineer License.
*Five (5) years of institutional mechanical trades supervisory experience.
