Contracted Athletic Trainer/Physical Therapist - Twin Cities Orthopedics

Description

The contracted athletic trainer/physical therapist will assist with athletic training staff with all aspects of treating injuries and managing rehabilitation of professional football players employed by the club. The ATC/PT will assist with the management of medical supplies inventory and assist the athletic training staff with ordering. The ATC/PT will be responsible for ensuring proper hydration and fueling is available to all players prior to, during, and after practice. The employee will assist in preventative taping and bracing of players in preparation of practice and games. In addition, the ATC/PT will assist with the management and coordination of travel, ensuring the athletic training department is equipped with the adequate supplies needed while working away games. The ATC/PT will help with the injury documentation and management process through the club's electronic medical record, compliant to the standards required by the NFL. The employee will assist with the on field and sideline hydration and injury management on gamedays as instructed by the Associate Head Athletic Trainer. Finally, the employee will assist the Associate Head Athletic Trainer with any duties or tasks as assigned to help with the coordination and management of player health.

This is a full-time position working from our TrainingHAUS location in Eagan and the Minnesota Vikings Campus.

Twin Cities Orthopedics is an operating division of Infinite Health Collaborative (i-Health), a group of local medical practices, owned and led by its physicians, on a mission to give patients more control over their healthcare.

Essential Functions:



  • Assist the Director of Sports Medicine and/or Associate Head Athletic Trainer with all matters pertaining to prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of inured athletes. This includes both short term and long-term cases
  • Assist the Director of Sports Medicine and Team Physicians in determining if an athlete is physically fit of participation in a game and/or practice
  • Assist in the recognition and referral of all major injures and illnesses to the Director of Sports Medicine
  • Assist Associate Head Athletic Trainer in executing all processes in player care and logistics
  • Serve as Liaison to Twin Cities Orthopedics while tracking and managing physician dictations

    • Track, Download, and Upload documents into Kitman Labs
    • Command Health Dictation Management and Appropriate Documentation in Kitman Labs


  • Coordinate the sterilization of medical instruments through Twin Cities Orthopedics
  • Manage the collection and disposal of medical waste, sharps, pharmaceutical, and/or hazardous waste through Stericycle and respective county licensure

    • Coordinate annual training


  • Manage C-Arm records and annual registration through Minnesota Department of Health
  • Serve as the clinical instructor and mentor for the TCO Advanced Sports PT Fellowship position
  • Assist with home and away stadium / field set up as directed
  • Manage Recovery Room modalities and schedule servicing as needed
  • Pack, stock and manage Gameday Field Trunk and under the direction of Lexus Blunt
  • Maintain Inventory and input to Teams weekly during the season for the following:

    • Doctor's Offices
    • Back Storage Room


  • Record meeting notes for all performance meetings and maintain on Teams
  • Coordinate compression sleeve and wrap list for all travel trips under direction of Associate Head Athletic Trainer
  • Rotate assisting with Forceplate Jumping in the weight room weekly.
  • Assist with combine and non-combine annual process as requested.


Education and Experience Requirements:



  • Bachelor of Science from a four-year college or University.
  • Must have one of the following:

    • Masters Degree in Athletic Training from a CAATE accredited program.
    • Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from a CAPTE accredited program & Licensed Physical Therapist with successful completion of the NPTE exam


  • Board Certified Athletic Trainer / Board-Certified Sports Clinical Specialist (SCS) in Sports Physical Therapy or completion of an accredited Sports Physical Therapy Residency.
  • 2 years of certified athletic training/physical therapy experience working Power 4 collegiate football or in the NFL.
  • Eligible for licensure to practice in the state of Minnesota.
  • CPR and first-aid certification for the professional rescuer.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with multiple priorities.


Benefits & Compensation:



  • The range for this role is $52,000 to $100,000.

    • Actual starting pay will vary based on education, skills, and experience.

Working Conditions:



  • Frequentlylift up to 50 pounds independently and occasionally up to 100 pounds with assistance.
  • Requires the ability to stand, walk, bend, and move continuously throughout the shift.
  • Must be able to frequently perform physical activities such as pushing, pulling, and reaching.
  • Visual acuity to read electronic and paper documents.
  • Auditory ability to participate in phone or video calls clearly.
  • Manual dexterity to operate standard office equipment (e.g., computer, phone, printer).
