About the Role: PitchBook News seeks an experienced journalist to report and writenews-driven,data-rich articles about major trends shaping the private equity market. PitchBook News is a growing team of writers and editors who produce compelling journalism with original insights. We shine a light on fascinating people, companies, and market trends while leveraging our best-in-class datasets to engage our audience. As a team, we pride ourselves on being endlessly curious and building a collaborative, reader-focused culture driven toward excellence. Primary Job Responsibilities: Report on trends and major news about private equity deals, funds and management, leveraging your own reporting along with PitchBook proprietary data and research Pitch and produce a wide range of timely content focused on original analytical feature stories, data-centric market snapshots, and breaking news stories Write data-driven stories and analytical trend-focused pieces using PitchBook's best-in-class datasets Collaborate with PitchBook research analysts and designers to produce unique, insightful journalism Build and cultivate a network of industry sources Actively contribute to the news team's coverage plans and future initiatives to foster team strength and effectiveness Attend major conferences or other relevant events in person, including some travel when needed Support the vision and values of the company through role modeling and encouraging desired behaviors Participate in various company initiatives and projects as requested Skills and Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent required 2 years' experience in financial journalism, or comparable analytical writing Skill navigating data to find insights Must be adept in firsthand reporting and research under deadline pressure Write clearly and concisely with little or no rewriting by editors Ability to create data-centric graphics or other visuals that can tell the story Translating complex financial and tech topics with an engaging and authoritative voice Initiative, and ability to pitch and develop your own story topics independently Strong communication skills Curiosity about a wide range of topics and trends Proven ability juggling multiple projects amid various deadlines Must be a team player who collaborates across the news team and other departments Experience writing about financial markets and technology is highly desirable Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite including in-depth knowledge of Outlook, Word, and Excel with the ability to pick up new systems and software easily Must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future Benefits + Compensation at PitchBook: Physical Health Comprehensive health benefits Additional medical wellness incentives STD, LTD, AD&D, and life insurance Emotional Health Paid sabbatical program after four years Paid family and paternity leave Annual educational stipend Ability to apply for tuition reimbursement CFA exam stipend Robust training programs on industry and soft skills Employee assistance program Generous allotment of vacation days, sick days, and volunteer days Social Health Matching gifts program Employee resource groups Subsidized emergency childcare Dependent Care FSA Company-wide events Employee referral bonus program Quarterly team building events Financial Health 401k match Shared ownership employee stock program Monthly transportation stipend Please be aware the above PitchBook benefit and perk offerings are subject to corresponding plan and policy documents and may change during the course of your employment. Compensation Annual base salary: $80,000-$105,000 Target annual bonus percentage: 7.5% Working Conditions:* At the heart of our company is a belief in the power of in-person collaboration.
