Duties and responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the

following:

• Perform general reconditioning and repairing work requiring a moderate degree

• of skill on equipment such as: air break and dis connect switches, distribution

• transformers, small motors and related substation and line equipment.

• Test equipment mechanically and electrically; use a low potential test set.

• Assemble simple electrical apparatus and mount in position, as directed.

• Erect pipe and angle switchboard frames, mount switchboard panels, unpack

• and mount switchboard instruments and devices.

• Perform machine shop and welding duties of moderate complexity.

• Operate power hand tools, bench grinder, drill press, power hacksaw and pipe

• threading machine.

• Inspect and clean protective materials and prepare them for testing and assist in

• such testing, and prepare test records, all as assigned.

• Perform oxyacetylene cutting and simple welding.

• Paint equipment by the use of brush, spray and flow-coat methods.

• Operate and maintain oil reclaiming equipment, treat oil, as directed, pump oil

• to and from tanks and equipment, and make proper records and disposition of

• material.

• Conduct electrical tests of insulating oils to determine presence of moisture,

• carbon or foreign materials.

• Operate traveling cranes rated at not to exceed ten tons capacity.

• Maintain work equipment and area in a clean, orderly condition, continuously

• observe company's safety rules and practices, check condition of safety

• equipment, attend scheduled safety meetings, participate in artificial respiration

• practice as required and become familiar with safety manuals, rules and special

• procedures prescribed by the company.

• Perform the duties of Electric Shop Mechanic Helper; perform other similar or

• less skilled work.

Specific Requirements

• Must complete the company's training course for the job of Electric Shop

• Mechanic C and pass the examination

• Ability to successfully complete the (CAST-R) testing

• Must be able to obtain a CDL.

• Due to Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) imposed

• regulations, the body weight limitation is imposed at 285 lbs. or less. Candidate

• will not be considered if weight exceeds 285 lbs.

Basic Qualifications

1. Graduation from high school or applicable equivalent in either job training or

study, preferably supplemented by courses in AC and DC circuits.

2. Must have demonstrated ability in the performance of the duties of Electric

Shop Mechanic Helper.

3. Must have acquired a working knowledge of elementary electricity.

4. Must be able to understand and interpret simple drawings and diagrams.

5. Must understand the functions, care and operation of simple machinery.

6. Must have acquired a working knowledge of the principles of simple welding.
