Overview

The Project Specialist is responsible for providing Subject Matter Expert (SME) expertise on emissions reporting including Greenhouse Gases (GHG) and other projects within the sustainability Section of Environment, Health and Safety's Sustainability & Strategic Programs Group. The Project Specialist will support all operating departments on related project work and provide leadership on GHG monitoring, standardized data reporting and emissions reduction strategies. This position is integral in supporting the company's overall sustainability strategy and drive towards a safe, reliable and decarbonized clean energy future.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • Provide Company-level oversight and operational support for all regulatory and associated technical efforts to effectively manage applicable programs and projects related to compliance with Greenhouse Gas reporting.
  • Lead data analysis, compilation and coordination involved in Greenhouse Gas reporting, included but not limited to mandatory regulatory reporting, rate case requests and voluntary disclosures.
  • Maintain current knowledge of federal, New York State, and New York City regulations pertaining to air permitting, reporting, and compliance.
  • Provide strategic input on various internal and external initiatives around GHG and Air emissions.
  • Oversee, coordinate, lead, and monitor the performance of special studies in support of air emissions goals and objectives, including development of a full GHG inventory.
  • Manage the development, maintenance, and interpretation of applicable procedures and instructions, and support associated training.
  • Consult with Regulatory Services, Compliance and the Law Department to obtain legal clarifications as needed and to analyze the impacts of regulatory changes on company operations.
  • Must be able to perform other related assignments as required by Senior Management.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree and 3 years of relevant experience or
  • Master's Degree and 2 years of relevant experience
Preferred Education/Experience
  • Master's Degree and 2 years of relevant experience
Relevant Work Experience
  • Must have proven ability to work on a team and perform complex data analysis, required.
  • Must possess leadership and interpersonal skills to enable success when dealing with all levels of Company workers, contractors, and regulators, required.
  • Must demonstrate proficiency with data and word processing, spreadsheets and/or an ability to quickly become proficient with database packages including Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, macros, data modeling, Power BI, and Maximo, required.
  • Familiarity with sustainability-related project and general knowledge of greenhouse gas accounting, preferred.
  • Familiarity with the Clean Air Act, DEC Part 253, EPA Part 98 Sub-Part Filings, Local Law 97 and general CLCPA requirements, preferred.

  • Stand to use/operate office equipment for the duration of the workday
Additional Physical Demands
  • The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
