For more information, visit the link below: https://www.tn.gov/workforce/careers.html Qualifications Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED, and four years of qualifying full-time experience in unemployment insurance, employment services, tax, accounting, auditing, or related fiscal services work. OR Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree and experience equivalent to two years of full-time work in unemployment insurance, employment services, tax, accounting, auditing or finance work. Necessary Special Qualifications: None. Overview Under general supervision, is responsible for specialized clerical work of average difficulty and lead work of routine difficulty in the Unemployment Insurance Division; and performs related work as required. This is the minor supervisory class in the Unemployment Specialist sub-series. An employee in this class does work that requires technical knowledge in the application of unemployment insurance laws and regulations. Incumbents may perform work involving difficult and complex unemployment insurance issues, and no supervision is required. Responsibilities 1. Assemble data from account records and related files, prepare ledgers and deposits to maintain accounting and statistical records; enter data into computer to update employer accounts and Trust Fund accounting system. 2. Correct discrepancies in reports and post wage data to accounting systems. 3. Review and analyze employer's unemployment insurance applications, correspondence, data and reports to determine liability and tax rates for new and existing accounts, or determine any issues and appropriate destination, or correct data. 4. Research all bankruptcy cases to determine liability and necessity of claim filing. 5. Examine reports to ensure that staff calculate tax rates, taxes due, interest and penalties accurately, and have required attachments; ensure that the correct expenditure fund accounts have been properly debited or credited. 6. Ensure that tax, premium and wage, and other reports submitted by businesses are processed according to legislative directives, precedent, or department guidelines. 7. Verify employer wage information contained on forms or computer discs is complete, accurate and formatted correctly. 8. Ensure staff accurately determines employer liability for unemployment insurance. 9. Review staff reports for accurate data entry, assignment of codes, and conformity to department standards; ensure that staff verifies data submitted on documents matches data in files. 10. Plan, organize, and prioritize work to handle the workload of the unit; maintain or supervise the maintenance of daily logs, reports and record keeping systems. 11. Assist staff with determining employers' eligibility to transfer their experience rating record from one employer to another. 12. Supervise staff, coach for continuous improvement, career development and individual growth; handle personnel actions including hiring, promotions, disciplinary actions and the employee performance review process in accordance with agency and DOHR policies. 13. Explain how to correct computer processing errors in reports to ensure accurate processing. 14. Train staff on a one-on-one basis the steps involved in carrying out assigned tasks. 15.
