Job Description




As a Security Officer - Flex Freight Screener in Carol Stream, IL, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Logistics & Distribution, and more. You will screen visitors and employees, verify access, monitor assigned areas, and conduct routine patrols to help discourage security-related incidents. Working with a caring, people-first team, you will provide clear communication, professional customer service, and reliable reporting while staying agile, innovative, and guided by integrity.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to location personnel and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Screen and verify employees, visitors, drivers, and vendors at designated access points using approved identification and credentialing procedures.
  • Conduct package, bag, and property screening as directed, using screening tools and established protocols while maintaining a professional demeanor.
  • Support shipping and receiving operations by monitoring inbound and outbound traffic flow, checking seals, and confirming trailer and dock assignments per site procedures.
  • Perform access control for vehicle entry and exit, including logging arrivals and departures, issuing temporary credentials when authorized, and directing traffic to staging areas.
  • Monitor cameras, alarms, and other systems to identify unusual activity and help to deter unauthorized access to docks, yards, and restricted areas.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including medical incidents, alarms, disruptions, and suspicious activity.
  • Complete routine documentation such as visitor logs, screening logs, incident reports, and shift activity reports with clear and accurate details.
  • Communicate with location management, Allied Universal supervisors, and first responders as needed, using radios, phones, and other communication methods.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the business and perimeter, including dock doors, trailer rows, parking areas, and other restricted zones, as assigned. Working environments and conditions may vary by client site.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
