Job Description




As a Security Officer - Residential Patrol in San Diego, CA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Hotels & Resorts, and more. As an unarmed Patrol Officer with Allied Universal at a hotel and resort location, you will conduct routine patrols of guest areas and property grounds, stay visible to help deter security-related incidents, and respond to calls for assistance with calm, clear communication. You will document observations, support staff and guests with customer-focused service, and contribute to a caring culture that is agile, reliable, innovative, team-driven, and grounded in integrity.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to guests, staff, and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a hotel and resort location.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including guest concerns, disturbances, and property-related issues, and escalate to management and/or emergency services as needed.
  • Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of common areas, guest-facing spaces, back-of-house areas, and the perimeter to help to deter unwanted activity.
  • Monitor access points and assist with guest and vendor entry, deliveries, and service traffic in accordance with site procedures.
  • Observe and report suspicious activity, hazards, and policy violations, and complete detailed reports using Allied Universal reporting processes.
  • Support event and amenity coverage by providing a visible presence, assisting with crowd flow, and coordinating with site staff during higher traffic periods.
  • Conduct checks of doors, gates, and restricted areas and report maintenance concerns such as lighting outages, damaged locks, and other conditions that may impact operations.
  • Use two-way radios, phones, and/or other communication tools to coordinate with site personnel and Allied Universal supervision and document actions taken.
  • Assist with lost and found procedures and guest service requests as directed by site policy while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Participate in emergency response activities as directed, including assisting with evacuations and providing information to responding personnel.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
