A Brief Overview
Reporting directly to the Business Continuity Manager, the Business Continuity program is a separate service line within Emergency Preparedness. Working closely with the program leadership team, partner organizations, technical staff, and business units to define and apply CHOP's unified business continuity management objectives. With strong communication, relationship building, technical and leadership skills, the Analyst will partner with the Business Continuity team to integrate business continuity into a cohesive strategy. They will design and implement scalable solutions that align with the CHOP system goals and effectively address business objectives and requirements in our acute, outpatient and research environments. The primary work location will be at the Philadelphia Campus, but there may be occasional work at other CHOP locations for system-wide initiatives.

The Business Continuity Analyst will work with department leadership, staff, as part of the Emergency Preparedness department to operationalize and coordinate the businesses continuity program including the department level business impact analysis, business continuity planning and departmental downtime procedures. Additionally, they will work closely with Digital & Technology Services (DTS) on Disaster Recovery planning and technical contingencies.

What you will do

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the Business Continuity program in collaboration with Emergency Preparedness (EP), Digital Technology Services (DTS), and guidance from the Business Continuity (BC) Manager.
  • Collaborate with departmental stakeholders in an enterprise-wide federated model to assess and categorize risks for developing departmental and system-level business continuity plans including downtime processes.
  • Collaborate with clinical, technical, and operational departments to conduct Business Impact Analyses (BIAs) using Service Now.
  • Assist departments in creating clear, area-specific Business Continuity Plans (BCPs) and map all existing processes across the organization to maintain a comprehensive inventory of BC resources.
  • Support the maintenance of digital BC processes on Policy Manager and physical copies in units/offices with departmental stakeholders.
  • Design, implement, present, and document educational programs, exercises, and training for business continuity readiness.
  • Collaborate with the EP team during major technology incidents to coordinate response activities, including facilitating situational awareness, disseminating mass communications, and deploying BC assets and resources.
  • Develop After-Action Reports and Improvement Plans following significantly impactful incidents to capture a comprehensive review of capabilities and define action items for addressing critical gaps or opportunities.

Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Business Continuity, Business Administration, Emergency Management or similar field of study - Required
  • Master's Degree - Preferred

Experience Qualifications

  • At least three (3) years Business Continuity experience - Required
  • At least two (2) years Healthcare experience - Preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of Business Continuity, business impact analysis, business continuity plan development and related policies and procedures.
  • Understands Business Continuity standards (e.g., ISO/BS 25999, 22301, NIST, etc.) and how they apply to healthcare.
  • Demonstrates the ability to create detailed work-related documentation (e.g., process flows, procedures) through the use of MS productivity tools (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio).
  • Understands ServiceNow Business Continuity module.
