What to Expect
In this role, you will be primary responsible for weld lines process from conception to full ramp, working closely with the Battery Manufacturing engineering across all Tesla models. The Manufacturing Engineer will be leading design for manufacturing (DFM) reviews across different teams for a successful product design and developing GD&T strategies.You will be responsible for engineering integrator selection process and working on the floor for bringing Welding Assembly lines to fruition. You are theresponsible lead for the process and managing all functions efficiently.

What You'll Do
  • Working with the Product design team to review different levels of check points and developing manufacturing strategies based on maturity of CAD
  • Responsible to develop estimates for CapEx, OpEx, line layouts, utilities needs and other functions related to process
  • You will be drafting RFQs with technical details and managing overall program objectives with schedule
  • Doing technical reviews for engineering integrators for process design, tooling, simulation and all aspects related to weld assembly line
  • Owning the layout of the line and leading all facilities needs to work with Factory construction teams
  • You will be responsible for matching the throughput of the lines with overall program and developing an efficient process with cycle time calculations
  • Managing onsite engineering team of line builders with installation and commissioning of the line
  • Additionally responsible for managing prototype builds before all main production lines

What You'll Bring
  • Preferred to have Masters in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience
  • Preferred to have previous manufacturing experience especially in automotive industry
  • Knowledge on high volume assembly lines would be an advantage
  • Hands on experience of working on the floor
  • Knowledge of layout development in AutoCAD or equivalent
  • Proficiency in CAD software for tooling design
