What to Expect

The Product Manager, Charging Firmware & Software will be part of our energy engineering teams that are responsible for delivering end to end products and services to support Tesla Energy and Charging. This product management role will be hyper focused on firmware/software features for Tesla's Supercharger ecosystem focusing on utility integration, compliance/policy requests, vehicle-Supercharger cross-platform initiatives, and payment/vendor management. This role translates business vision into executable FW/SW roadmaps, coordinates complex integrations (e.g., ISO118-20, IEEE 2030.5, etc.), and ensures scalable solutions for EV charging growth. Expect flexibility in a fast-paced environment, with an emphasis on technical depth, industry knowledge, and collaboration to prioritize initiatives. Team members bring a rock-solid work ethic, creativity, passion for sustainable energy, and expertise in charging/energy sectors.


What You'll Do
  • Drive product strategy and long-term FW/SW roadmaps, translating business priorities
  • Own end-to-end FW/SW initiatives from concept to rollout, prioritizing and handing off to engineering teams while monitoring performance
  • Coordinate cross-platform efforts and act as liaison for regulatory/compliance, facilitating requirements
  • Partner with operations, deployment, and installer teams on UX/UI improvements, commissioning flows, and real-world friction reduction, advocating for better experience
  • Provide technical leadership on tradeoffs and maintain global roadmaps aligned with NPI/compliance timelines
  • Communicate feature handoffs to stakeholders (executives, teams, users) and drive decisions/tradeoffs discussions
  • Maintain sustaining feature quality and product experience
  • Work with engineering to deliver a scalable solution that not just meets current needs, but considers future growth scenarios

What You'll Bring
  • 4+ years in product management in fast-paced environments, with proven ability to prioritize, transition ideas to engineering, and move initiatives from roadmap to impact
  • Experience in software/firmware development for connected devices
  • Preferred: experience in charging industry and familiarity with communication & utility protocols - ISO, OCPP, IEEE, vehicle integrations and payment integrations/authorization
  • Familiarity with traditional energy infrastructure and coordinating compliance/policy
  • Strong technical acumen to understand/execute details in features like AC Ripple, slow charging, or payment security, plus UI/UX for industrial applications
  • Excellent communication/documentation skills and ability to manage parallel projects
  • Deep passion for sustainable energy transition
  • Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Science, or technical discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Charging/energy sector experience required

    Expected Compensation
    $112,000 - $204,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
