Engineering Technician IV Lead, Design for Manufacturing Team

Job Summary:

Cubic | Nuvotronics' Design for Manufacturing (DFM) Team is a multidisciplinary team of engineers, designers, and technicians who translate designs from our electrical engineering design team into buildable products. As a Senior Engineering Technician within this team, you will be responsible for supporting multiple complex prototype and low-rate-of-production builds while ensuring a successful handoff to the production team. Will need to pivot quickly between different products with different workflows, exercise judgement on builds, and make recommendations to the engineering staff. This position typically works under general supervision and direction. Incumbents of this position will regularly exercise discretionary and substantial decision-making authority, both within the product teams they are assigned to as well as key member of the assembly area.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assembles electronic components requiring complex wiring, soldering, and connecting, often under microscopes

  • Reads and interprets complex notes, schematics, parts lists, and wiring diagrams

  • Specifies, acquires, sets up, operates, and maintains equipment required to build, repair, and troubleshoot electronic subassemblies and assemblies

  • Contacts personnel in related activities to resolve problems and coordinate assigned work

  • Adheres to internal and external process standards and quality systems

  • Diagnoses, locates, troubleshoots, and corrects malfunctions and failures requiring high levels of skill for solution

  • Works with customers, program managers, and engineering staff to develop, field, and demonstrate systems; recommends modifications to specifications and provides design feedback by compiling, interpreting, and presenting data obtained during manufacturing

  • Develops information concerning previous failures and modifications.Identifies inconsistencies or gaps in data and seeks sources to clarify information, including devising experiments to determine a solution

  • Communicates progress utilizing advanced level computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint as well as technical software packages related to equipment operation

  • Assists, trains, and leads other co-workers in assembly skills and equipment use as required

  • Serves, in a limited role, as a customer contact on technical and service related aspects

  • Assumes additional responsibilities as needed. May serve as team lead, organizing work direction and schedules, and can take on additional leadership responsibilities as needed to solve problems or develop improved processes

Minimum Job Requirements:
Two-year college degree, military technical training, or equivalent, plus a minimum of six years direct electronic experience in digital and analog circuitry or radio frequency components, preferably at a Senior Technician level. Intermediate level computer skills and knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required. Knowledge and use of software packages required to support hardware builds.Ability to read and write technical materials and perform moderately complex technical phases of work. Ability to communicate feedback with general engineering staff, verbally and written. Ability to use hand tools and assembly equipment. May be required to work weekends and holidays to support customer needs.

Cubic Pay Range:

$31.00 - $39.00 + benefits.

The Cubic pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
