  • Pay Rate Type: Hourly with overtime rate of 1.5x base pay for all hours worked over 40 in a week

Responsibilities

  • Lead and perform detailed Civil 3D site design, including grading, earthwork modeling, utilities, stormwater management, and plan production
  • Prepare complete, high-quality construction documents, including grading plans, erosion and sediment control plans, utility plans, stormwater systems, and technical calculations
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, surveyors, designers, and other engineering disciplines to deliver coordinated and accurate plans
  • Review and interpret geotechnical reports, survey data, zoning codes, jurisdictional requirements, and due-diligence materials
  • Support Project Managers with permitting and agency coordination involving municipalities, watershed districts, and state agencies
  • Provide construction-phase support as needed, including responding to RFIs, reviewing shop drawings, and verifying conformance with plans
  • Communicate and coordinate project work across teams; provide technical guidance and design direction to Project Engineers and CAD Technicians
  • Assist with project scoping, design alternatives, and value-engineering efforts to meet client goals
  • Mentor junior engineers and CAD staff on grading best practices and Civil 3D workflows
  • Ensure project deliverables meet quality standards and are completed on schedule
  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment that promotes communication, respect, and accountability

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited program
  • 5-10 years of experience in civil/site design with a strong emphasis on commercial land development
  • Demonstrated expertise in Autodesk Civil 3D, particularly grading, surfaces, corridors, and earthwork modeling
  • Experience preparing complete plan sets for commercial or mixed-use site development projects
  • Strong understanding of stormwater design, hydrology/hydraulics, utilities, erosion control, and site layout
