Propulsion / Powertrain Serviceability Engineer

Role Description:

The Propulsion Serviceability Engineer is responsible for influencing early product designs to meet service requirements across all powertrain commodities, including engine systems, engine, transmission, and driveline. This role involves assessing future product designs for serviceability, identifying and addressing non-compliance to serviceability requirements through design changes, and transferring applicable product knowledge to downstream stakeholders such as technical documentation authors, technical training teams, and contact center personnel. This resource will be assigned responsibility for all propulsion-related commodities and may serve as Vehicle Lead for one or more vehicles. As Vehicle Lead, the Propulsion Serviceability Engineer must facilitate assessment and reporting efforts with serviceability colleagues based on the timing of major vehicle milestones.

Basic Requirements:



  • Associate Degree in Automotive Technology, Engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years of automotive technical experience in powertrain or propulsion systems, including hands-on experience with engines, transmissions, drivelines, and related components
  • Demonstrated technical understanding of field powertrain repair techniques and industry practices
  • Understanding of process development, program management, and problem-solving techniques
  • Strong problem-solving, planning, and analytical skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office PowerPoint, Word, Excel, or equivalent applications
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Must be trustworthy and conduct themselves professionally
  • Must be willing to travel domestically (minimal travel expected)


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Automotive Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • Strong understanding of dealership service operations and technician workflow for powertrain repairs
  • Ability to navigate CAD and interface with 3D models of powertrain systems and components
  • Experience interfacing with Engineering & Manufacturing personnel
  • Strong understanding of automotive diagnostic processes, wiring diagrams, and remove/install procedures for powertrain systems
  • ASE and/or manufacturer-specific powertrain certifications
  • Comfortable presenting to all levels of management
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and team-building skills
  • Experience with manufacturing facilities or processes
  • Multi-lingual (written & verbal)
  • Strong innovation skills
