DESCRIPTION

Under supervision, the Staff Research Associate support studies that bridge clinical neurosciences, advanced neuroimaging, and cognitive neuroscience, primarily in patients with epilepsy within the Department of Neurosciences. Duties include: recruitment and scheduling of patients and healthy controls; database creation and management; research image acquisition and transfer; and neuropsychological testing and scoring. Work in a clinical research setting with healthy controls and patients with epilepsy and provide support on manuscripts for publication and professional research conferences. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Knowledge of clinical neurosciences and cognitive neuroscience, primarily in patients with epilepsy

  • Theoretical knowledge of neuroscience, biology, cognitive science generally acquired through a Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of human subjects research policies and procedures. Knowledge of the human subject consent process, and federal government regulations pertaining to consenting of subjects. On-line training certificate (acquired on job). Knowledge of IRB, and sponsored research requirements.

  • Strong demonstrated experienced with computers (Personal computer and Macintosh). Skill with personal computers, word processing, spreadsheet, e-mail software, databases, etc. Specifically Microsoft office suite (excel, access, PowerPoint, word, etc).

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to use tact and diplomacy with subjects (including patients with cognitive impairment), their families, faculty and institutional staff, as well as when representing the agency in the community.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and communicate effectively and diplomatically at all organizational levels, both verbally and in writing. Ability to work professionally and effectively with a diverse population, including the business community, academicians, staff and students.

  • Ability to liaise with leaders and members of the public to identify and contact potential study participants.

  • Excellent record keeping, database management, detail oriented, logical, methodological approach to problem solving, strong process orientation, strong administrative and organizational skills with demonstrated ability to prioritize assignments, maintain workflow, and work productively in meeting critical deadlines and milestones.

  • Skill in working independently and following through on assignments with minimal supervision. Good judgment to know when to ask for assistance from supervisor in cases where regulations, policies and procedures are not clear.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bilingual in Spanish.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $58,151 - $69,363 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $27.85 - $33.22

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
