Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience; the budget for the position; and the application of fair, equitable, and consistent pay practices at the University. The full hourly range for this position is $23.35 to $32.66/hourly. Work Location: 6759 Navigator Way, Goleta CA 93117 Working Days and Hours: 4 days, 10 hour shifts, Wednesday - Saturday, 8:00pm - 6:30 am Benefits Eligibility: Full Benefits Special Instructions: Department Marketing Statement: Facilities Management is charged with providing campus operations and maintenance services to the core campus. Its focus is on the state supported, general funded buildings and infrastructure, over 4 million gross square feet of space, and over 260 acres of grounds. Brief Summary of Job Duties: Under the supervision of the Assistant Superintendent, performs a variety of custodial tasks and other related duties. Handles all heavy lifting and moving tasks, the moving of all furniture out of classrooms, offices, labs, and the replacement of all furniture. Required to perform custodial duties in zone, and campus-wide as necessary. Required Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications: * 1-5 Years Experience performing a variety of unskilled manual tasks; and perform other related duties as required. Special Conditions of Employment: * a) Visual acuity: Eyesight correction to 20-20. b) Depth perception: Average depth perception. c) Hearing: Ability to effectively hear and comprehend oral communication. d) Sense of smell: Ability to distinguish smells of various chemicals used in the cleaning process and to detect odors emanating from potentially hazardous conditions. e) Problem solving skills: Ability to understand and apply University and Department policies and procedures to specific situations. Ability to exercise sound judgment in solving problems. f) Working under pressure: Will assist emergency clean-up projects, maintain closet inventory of equipment and supplies, and maintain work assignment to department standards. Ability to accomplish work within deadlines; may handle more than one project at a time. g) Working with others: Needs to be able to work effectively in a team environment and needs to receive and follow instruction from supervisors. h) Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions in English. i) May be required to wear an UCSB-provided uniform. Maintains communication by portable radio and takes calls over radio in absence of supervisor and lead. Assists in emergency response teams and cleanups. Participates in creating a strong customer service environment. Effectively performs in a service environment. Maintains proficiency at current levels and continually updates knowledge through appropriate courses, training seminars, publications, and contacts with others in the trade. Knowledge of correct chemical use and mixture. Knowledge of general custodial duties and floor restoration. Ability to operate vacuums, floor scrubbers, polishers and carpet steam extractors and truck mount unit. Ability to clean all different types of floor surfaces including rubberized tile, concrete, computer tile, resilient tile, ceramic tile, linoleum, fovo, cork floor, Spanish tile, pitted tile, mosaic tile, terrazzo, wood and parquet floors, all carpeted surfaces.
