POSITION TITLE: Bioinformatics Analyst I

POSITION SUMMARY:

Work under direct to general supervision, employ a variety of standard computational sequence analysis (mathematical and computing) tools to model and analyze molecular biological data.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Duties include but are not limited to working on the machine-learning-based analysis of mouse behavior, based on images and movies taken by our newly developed in-cage imaging system. Will use SLEAP in collaboration with (Salk Institute) to quantify pose estimations to generate behavior-based aging clocks that enable the prediction of drug effects on mice. Initially, will analyze extensive data sets that we have already generated and then develop new testing paradigms.

REQUIREMENTS:



  • Requires a bachelor's degree, preferably in bioinformatics, computational biology or computer science or equivalent combination of education, training and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained.
  • Masters in bioinformatics, computer science, or computational biology, preferred.
  • Requires a minimum of 1-3 years related bioinformatics experience.
  • Must possess a solid background in bio -statistics, as well as experience setting up and analyzing large biological databases.
  • Requires knowledge of and experience with data management and analysis theories and techniques.
  • Knowledge of and experience utilizing C, Python, Java, R, PERL, or related programming language(s) preferred. Requires the ability to effectively prioritize workload and multi-task.
  • Requires the ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form, as well as to clearly convey methods and results to provide information to scientific investigators from which researchers can draw conclusions.


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: This is a remote position.

COMPENSATION: The expected hiring range for this position is $70,304 to $79,200 per year, commensurate with experience. Consideration will be given to experience that exceeds the listed requirements.
