Job Summary
The Nursing Unit Secretary plays a vital role in supporting patient care operations within the Emergency Department by performing a variety of clerical, receptionist, and patient transport duties. This position serves as a key point of contact for patients, families, and clinical staff, ensuring efficient communication, accurate documentation, and smooth workflow in a fast-paced emergency setting.

  • Scheduled for three 12-hour shifts per week, preferably 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

  • Variable schedule with every third weekend required

  • Onsite position located at 35 Miles Street, Damariscotta, Maine

Candidates with CNA or EMT experience are strongly preferred; however, applicants with prior Emergency Department unit clerk experience will also be strongly considered. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask while maintaining a calm, professional demeanor in a high-acuity environment.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  1. Education: High School diploma or GED preferred.
  2. License/Certifications: Current BLS certification preferred or may be required based on location.
  3. Experience: One year of hospital or health care setting preferred.
