Position Summary

The Bartender at Hotel Vance is responsible for delivering a welcoming, engaging, and high-quality beverage experience for hotel guests and local patrons. This role supports daily bar operations by preparing and serving beverages to Crescent and brand standards, maintaining a clean and organized bar, and providing knowledgeable, attentive service. The Bartender plays a key role in driving beverage sales, supporting special events and banquets, and contributing to a vibrant, guest-focused atmosphere.


Essential Job Functions


  • Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages consistently and accurately according to established recipes and standards



  • Provide friendly, professional, and engaging service to all guests, creating memorable experiences



  • Maintain complete knowledge of beverage menus, including cocktails, beer, wine, and spirits, and make recommendations to guests



  • Set up, stock, and break down the bar before and after shifts



  • Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of the bar area in compliance with health and safety standards



  • Monitor guest consumption and ensure responsible alcohol service in accordance with state laws and hotel policy



  • Accurately process guest orders and payments using the POS system



  • Assist with inventory counts, restocking, and proper storage of beverage supplies



  • Communicate effectively with management, servers, and kitchen staff to ensure seamless service



  • Support banquet and catering events as assigned, including bar setup and service



  • Observe guest reactions and respond promptly to service needs or concerns



  • Comply with all Crescent Hotels & Resorts policies, Marriott brand standards, and local health regulations



  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times



  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned




Experience & Qualifications


  • Minimum of 2 years bartending experience in a high-volume, hotel, or upscale restaurant environment



  • Strong working knowledge of classic and contemporary cocktails, beer styles, wine, and spirits



  • Current OLCC or applicable state alcohol service permit required



  • Food Handler's Permit required (or ability to obtain prior to start)



  • Proven ability to provide responsible alcohol service



  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays




Required Skills & Abilities


  • Excellent guest service and communication skills



  • Ability to multitask and remain calm in a fast-paced environment



  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy



  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.



  • Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to assist others



  • Basic math and cash-handling skills



  • Ability to follow recipes, procedures, and safety standards consistently
