We are seeking applicants for a Utility- Woodyard in our Jackson, AL facility.



These positions create value by safely operating and performing preventative maintenance on the equipment which allows for smooth and successful operations in the woodyard.



Principle Responsibilities:



  • Utility - Woodyard is an entry-level production position that requires a mechanical background, general manual labor, operating heavy equipment, performing maintenance, working around fast-moving equipment, general cleaning, and any other related production tasks as business demands.
  • Must be willing and able to work any shift, weekends, holidays, and overtime, as needed
  • Must be willing and able to work rotating shifts


Basic Qualifications:



  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.


  • Must have at least 4 years documented manufacturing/maintenance or labor-intensive work experience or 2 years of study at an accredited college in a technical field (i.e. process operations, engineering) with 2 years of experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment or 2 years of military experience and currently working in a manufacturing/maintenance position.


  • Must be able to work in a hot, cold, humid, noisy, industrial environment with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks repetitively for extended periods of time (i.e. lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing and/or pulling), with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must be willing to wear the necessary Personal Protection equipment (PPE) (i.e. hard hats, safety glasses, face shield, chemical suit, respirator, ear plugs, hearing protection, steel-toe boots or safety shoes and other PPE required by specific jobs) with or without reasonable accommodation.


The successful candidate must possess the following Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:



  • Ability to be able to work well under pressure and within time constraints, multi-task, and build sound relationships with both internal and external customers
  • Ability to exhibit excellent communication, analytical, organizational and computer skills.
  • Capable of independently making sound decisions through creative problem-solving, ambiguity and change
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple requests simultaneously
  • Ability to read and understand technical correspondence, memos, instructions, and reports.


Tests and Board Interview:


Those selected to go through the PCA hiring process will be asked to take a series of five written tests and take part in a structured board interview.


The five written tests are all timed and involve:


Basic mechanical principles


Basic arithmetic skills


The ability to visualize three-dimensional figures


The ability to compare numbers or patterns quickly and accurately


Basic verbal ability



The interview will be conducted by a four-person board and involves a review of each candidate's:


Work history


Achievements and accomplishments


Knowledge and skill acquisition


Interpersonal skills and helpfulness


Task related likes and dislikes


Physical demands experienced on previous jobs

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS




  • Starting salary for position: $22.00 per hour.
  • Paid Vacation: Pro-rata Vacation during the initial year of hire based upon start date within the calendar year.

  • Within the first 30 days of employment, an employee (and their dependents) is eligible to enroll in certain benefit coverages -- medical, dental, and vision - and are automatically enrolled in life, AD&D, and disability coverages.
  • Upon hire, an employee is automatically enrolled in the 401k plan. The plan offers both pre-tax and Roth contribution options along with employer provided matching contributions.
