Responsibilities

Leads and directs the technical personnel, activities and equipment of the Adult Cardiopulmonary services: Promotes healing of acutely ill patients whose cardiac or pulmonary systems have been compromised through illness or injury through the provision of respiratory care, diagnostic testing, providing for the psycho-social needs of the patient, and patient education. Encourages and enhances the progression and efficient operation of the Cardiopulmonary Services Department. Treats patients from newborn, pediatrics, adolescents, young, middle, and older adults. When requested, assists day-to-day operations of the Cardiopulmonary Department, referring out-of-the -ordinary issues to the Manager and/or Medical Director, as appropriate. Provides diagnostic testing to the patient to help optimize the total care given. Performs arterial punctures for blood gas analysis; knowledge in the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and quality control of ABG analyzers. Abilities to use mechanical ventilators, bi-level ventilation equipment, peak flow meters, ability to perform respiratory assessment.



Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

ADULT CARE SUPERVISOR:

Required:

1. Valid Nevada State Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) License
2. Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
3. Current ACLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
4. Current PALS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
5. English language fluency (written and verbal)

NICU:

Required:

1. Perinatal /Pediatric Specialty Certificate from NBRC
2. Current certification in NRP
3. Must have current Instructor Certification in NRP
4. Graduate of JRCTE approved program for Respiratory Therapy, two-year program preferred.
5. Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
6. Must have two (2) years general experience providing respiratory care in an acute care hospital under medical direction.
7. Must have two (2) years clinical and supervisory experience providing neonatal respiratory care in an autonomous/expanded role in a Level II or Level III NICU.
8. English language fluency (written and verbal)

PULMONARY LAB SUPERVISOR:

Required:

1. Valid Nevada State Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) License
2. Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
3. English fluency (written and verbally).

Facility Specific Requirements (facility may require items listed below):

1. Registered Respiratory Therapist certification from the NBRC
2. 2 years Acute care experience
3. NRP certification
4. PALS certification
5. ACLS certification
