THE POSITION

The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is seeking a Park Maintenance Worker to join our team immediately. In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring that Region 2 State Parks are well-maintained and ready to welcome visitors. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will engage in semi-skilled manual labor focused on the construction and upkeep of state parks within State Parks Region 2. Your responsibilities will include a diverse range of tasks related to the maintenance of park grounds and facilities, requiring familiarity with tools commonly used in landscaping, carpentry, plumbing, and masonry. You will be tasked with various activities such as mowing grass and weeds using power tools and tractors, cutting wood, and clearing brush and fallen trees. Additionally, your role will involve maintaining the grounds by mowing or trimming grass with different types of mowers, clearing debris, collecting litter, and managing materials with dump trucks or pickups. You will also prepare sites for new turf, plant and care for trees and shrubs, and operate various equipment, including dump trucks and small tractors. Custodial duties will be part of your responsibilities, encompassing the cleaning of restrooms and park buildings, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring supplies are stocked.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time seasonal employment
  • Work shifts/days vary, will work 5 days/37.5 hours per week to include weekends and holidays if needed
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Conditions of Employment:

  • This position requires possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
