Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Project Engineer/Scrum Master to support the NOAA AWIPS program - the nationwide platform that provides forecasters with the real-time weather data and tools they need to protect communities across the country. AWIPS is used in over 150 forecast offices and is central to the National Weather Service mission.

What You'll Do:

The Project Engineer / Scrum Master drives Agile processes to ensure project teams deliver high-quality technical capabilities on schedule. This role bridges engineering and project management, supporting backlog grooming, sprint planning, and cross-team coordination.

    Facilitate all Agile ceremonies (standups, planning, reviews, retrospectives)
  • Maintain sprint backlogs, velocity tracking, and release plans
  • Partner with technical leads to remove impediments and optimize team performance
  • Coordinate engineering deliverables, requirements updates, and integration tasks
  • Ensure alignment with program-level objectives and dependencies


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Min 8 years with BS/BA, Min 6 years with MS/MA, Min 3 years with PhD
  • 4 years of relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree
  • Excellent MS Excel skills; Pivot Tables, Charts, and data cleansing and manipulation
  • Familiar with the Atlassian tool suite, including Jira, Insight, Confluence, Risk Register, Crucible, Bitbucket, etc.
  • Ability to write scripts and macros to assist with the automation of metric collection or other data uses
  • Data Analytics experience and techniques used to extract, analyze, and report meaningful information to upper management
  • Experience with software development methodologies and life cycles.
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment.
  • Familiar with working within a distributed virtual team environment, with proficiency in remote collaboration tools and practices.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust

Target Salary Range

$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
