Organizational Unit Overview
The Division of Student Affairs comprises over 30 departments, each responsible for providing various student support, services, and educational programs accessible to the university community. Job Duties
The main purpose of this position is to provide administrative support for Campus Living, Department of Residence Life. It is a full-time position. Duties include, but are not limited to, corresponding with students, parents, visitors, and staff, creating various reports, records and files, and supervising 2-4 student employees. This position is supervised by the Director of Residence Life.

Public Contact: Information is given verbally and in writing to students, parents, visitors, and staff about the concerns of students residing in the halls. Questions include student location, services, referrals, and staff messages. Employee is allowed to give public information about students and schedule appointments and activities such as programs and interviews. Employee answers the telephone, uses phone mail, and email.

Composition - Employee will compose routine correspondence from given information, business manuals and reference books. The position will type drafts of reports and correspondence and compose newspaper advertising and flyers. Employee edits documents for grammar and punctuation

Files: Employee is responsible for routine filing for the office staff. The position will compile data from files into reports at the request of the Director and Assistant Directors.

Office Equipment: Employee uses computer, fax, adding machine, copy machine, and other printing equipment. The position is responsible for reporting routine maintenance problems with office equipment. This position is also responsible for using the university computer applications for student services. Employee types and edits using word processing software. In addition, the position creates signs and flyers using Print Shop and all work is reviewed by the Director.

Supervision: This position supervises, trains, and evaluates 2-4 student workers. These students work with confidential filing, projects, copying, and other assigned tasks on a daily basis

Records and Reports: Employee is the contact person for 13 Coordinators of the Department of Residence Life for computer information. Composing, typing, and mailing of routine correspondence is required. Employee develops a programmatic participation database, which allows Residence Life to monitor student attendance at activities such as: Pirate 500, King and Queen, Dining Hall Quiet Study, etc. This position will also serve as the Residence Life Case Manager for students who are mandated by Campus Living to attend counseling. This ensures that they attend/continue counseling as long as appropriate. This employee compiles annual student staff names for submission to Alumni Relations, for future foundation opportunities. In addition, this position will be responsible for the inventory of equipment purchased by Residence Life staff. The position coordinates all administrative aspects of the Zero Tolerance process. This employee serves on the Resident Assistant (RA) Recruitment and Selection Team, which interviews and submits recommendations for future RAs.
