The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The Mouse Neurobehavior Core (MNBC) at the Institute of Comparative Medicine (ICM) conducts advanced behavioral neuroscience research focused on mouse models of neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative disorders. The Research Coordinator will be responsible for conducting behavioral assays, managing mouse colonies, analyzing data, and supporting users of the Core. This position requires technical proficiency, organizational skills, and a commitment to humane animal handling and research integrity.

Responsibilities



  • Behavioral Testing: Conduct a wide range of behavioral assays including seizure, circadian activity, neuromuscular functions, locomotion, sensory functions, anxiety and depression-like behaviors, neurological reflexes, developmental milestones, social behaviors, and cognitive functions. (30%)
  • Mouse Colony Management: Maintain and organize records, facilitate breeding, and manage mouse colonies to support experimental studies. Develop expanding behavior core services to increase the MNBC usage. (15%)
  • Tecniplast DVC liaison. Provide guidance to the implementation and expansion of the Tecniplast Digital Ventilated Cages (DVC) supporting ICM in training and Data management and algorithm modifications ensuring animal welfare consistency of the DVC usage. (10%)
  • Data Analysis: Analyze mouse behaviors using specialized software, manage datasets, perform advanced statistical analysis, and generate graphs for presentations and publications. (10%)
  • User Training & Support: Provide training to self-service users and veterinary residents in behavioral testing, software usage, equipment operation, and humane handling practices. (10%)
  • Scheduling & Coordination: Manage user schedules, resolve conflicts, and communicate effectively with the Director and users to ensure smooth operations. (10%)
  • Equipment Maintenance: Calibrate, troubleshoot, and coordinate repairs for specialized behavioral testing equipment. (5%)
  • Genotyping Support: Prepare and send genetic samples for external genotyping services to support colony management. (5%)
  • General Lab Support: Assist with purchasing, record management, communications, and other administrative tasks as needed. (5%)


Minimum Qualifications




  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience.




Preferred Qualifications




  • Bachelor's Degree in Neuroscience, Biology, Psychology, or a related field.



  • Experience in rodent neuroscience, behavioral testing, animal handling, and data analysis.



  • Proficiency in statistical software and behavioral analysis platforms.



  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
