Your Job

Georgia-Pacific Packaging is seeking an Inventory Planner to ensure timely replenishment of containerboard roll stock SKUs in optimal quantities across our plants. This role is critical in maintaining a consistent flow of materials from containerboard mills to corrugated plants, enabling the right SKU mix to be available when needed. The Inventory Planner combines supply chain management, data analysis, and relationship building to optimize inventory and support efficient plant operations.

This is a hybrid position based at GP Center in downtown Atlanta, GA.

What You Will Do

  • Be a team player and a champion of team morale.
  • Manage a portfolio of GP Corrugated plants to plan containerboard roll stock inventory for production.
  • Perform weekly analysis of SKU consumption each week, and react to spikes and drops in consumption within the mill schedules.
  • Perform analysis of forecasting practices and challenging the status quo on forecasts.
  • Perform analysis of internal and external production schedules with containerboard suppliers.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders in the mills.
  • Optimize mill outbound and inbound freight to maintain a steady material flow, avoiding over-or-under supply.
  • Build inventories offsite in preparation for mill maintenance outages.
  • Work with an economic mindset.
  • Travel to your supported facilities and mills (up to 5 visits per year) to advance top segment priorities, expand your knowledge, and strengthen colleague relationships.
  • Make decisions and recommendations on thorough data analysis and factual evidence.
  • Facilitate weekly operations meetings with the facilities you support.
  • Review and approve invoicing from warehousing providers and resolve discrepancies in external supplier invoices.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's Degree combined with 1 year of relevant experience OR 5 years of relevant industry experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (create and modify spreadsheets using formulas and ability to analyze data)
  • 1 year of experience in customer service/sales support or supply chain/logistics
  • Willing to travel up to 5 times per year (overnight visits)

What Will Put You Ahead

  • 2 or more years of experience in inventory analysis and/or customer service/sales support in a manufacturing business
  • Experience with supply chain/logistics in rail and truck transportation
  • Experience working in an ERP System
  • MS Excel or Power BI proficiency
