POSITION SUMMARY:

Plans, designs, prepares interior design construction documents relating to additions, alterations and renovations. Reviews performance of existing materials and provides direction for the interior design standards for finishes and furniture. Performs design efforts under the supervision of the department leadership. This sequence of job titles is structured to reflect an employee's increasing technical capabilities in the field of Interior Design.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:



  1. Develops design and construction documents based on construction feasibility, estimated cost, code requirements and design program requirements within allotted manhours and schedule.
  2. Distinguishes project requirements from client desires.
  3. Obtains field measurements, documents site conditions, etc., as required, to develop project scope and design concepts.
  4. Considers and analyzes alternative scopes and concepts.
  5. The Senior Interior Designer shall additionally determine budgetary and time constraints in order to prepare preliminary plans and cost estimates and develop final construction drawings, specifications and costs.
  6. Senior Interior Designer shall provide insight into technical issues to the appropriate leadership as needed.
  7. Senior Interior Designer shall perceive client needs and develop solutions with limited information at a conceptual level of design.



JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Bachelor's degree in interior design or architecture is preferred for all job titles but may be waived in accordance with the job experience requirements.



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:



  • Knowledge of construction methods and equipment installation/inspection.
  • Foundation and current knowledge of design, construction, operations and maintenance fields and government regulations and codes, as applicable to employees' discipline and to an extent that the employee can effectively integrate related construction, operations and maintenance disciplines into a design or interpretation of government regulations and codes.
  • The Senior Interior Designer role shall additionally require the necessary knowledge that establishes the employee to be eligible to be examined for registration as a Certified Interior Designer in the State of Florida.
  • Proficient with computer applications (PC- and network-based), including Windows, departmental e-mail, word processing, database, spreadsheet, project management, presentation and CADD packages.


  • High level of ability to solve problems and manage information indicated herein.
  • Ability to use equipment indicated herein.
  • Proficient written and verbal English communication skills, on a college graduate level.
  • Ability to plan, research, analyze, coordinate, implement and present project requirements.
  • Ability to generate clear design direction and convey the same to other designers and design professionals.
  • Interact professionally with JHACH departmental staff as well as contractors, manufacturers, vendors and consultants.

*Plus, two (2) years contemporary experience in the design of medical facilities or similar

such building projects.

Salary Range: Minimum /hour - Maximum /hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
