2026 Summer Intern - Translational Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics

Department Summary

This intern position is in the Translational Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics (tPKPD) Department. The tPKPD department is a critical function within the Development Sciences Organization, serving as the bridge between preclinical research and early clinical development. Our core mission is to quantitatively understand the relationship between a drug's exposure and its effect by applying robust scientific models to determine the pharmacokinetics (PK, or what the body does to the drug) and pharmacodynamics (PD, or what the drug does to the body) of our novel biotherapeutics. We achieve this by utilizing a diverse array of advanced tools, including computational modeling (in silico), cell-based systems (in vitro), and animal models (in vivo), with our methods tailored to the specific scientific questions driving the advancement of a molecule. The data and insights generated by our team are vital for making high-stakes decisions, specifically by helping to select lead molecules, optimize dosing regimens, and decipher the metabolic fate and in vivo behavior of various molecular designs. Ultimately, we play an essential role in accelerating molecules from the early research stages into early clinical development across a broad therapeutic landscape, including Oncology, Immunology, Ophthalmology, and Neuroscience.

This internship position is located in South San Francisco, on-site.

The Opportunity

This internship provides an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects combining transcriptomic/proteomic-based bioinformatics analysis with PK/PD modeling. This work aligns with our mission of accelerating drug development using cutting-edge predictive tools. Key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with PKPD scientists to analyze bioinformatics data and derive insights into PK/PD relationships.

  • Develop and validate predictive models using publicly available and Roche's internal data sets.

  • Contribute to the evaluation of target behaviors and druggability assessment in preclinical stages.

  • Engage with cross-functional teams across the organization to present results and incorporate feedback.

  • Work on impactful projects with some of the most talented professionals in the biotechnology industry.

Program Highlights

  • Intensive 12-weeks, full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship.

  • Program start dates are in May/June 2026.

  • A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship.
