Overview: Veeco is hiring a Manufacturing Technician with primary responsibilities to participate in the assembling of newly manufactured Advanced Packaging systems and subsystems on the manufacturing floor. Responsibilities: * Demonstrate safe work practices including electrical safety, safe lifting techniques, and maintaining a clean, safe work area * Following work instructions, integrate subassemblies and components into the build of complex systems to prepare for functional testing * Read mechanical drawings and electrical schematics * Use precision measurement tools including torque wrenches, DMMs, height standards, precision measurement tools, levels, and unique electronic data gathering tools as prescribed in work instructions * Disassemble and pack systems in preparation for shipment and delivery to customers * Write daily pass downs and store build data as directed * Perform basic troubleshooting and assist Manufacturing Engineers to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues * Identify improvement opportunities for safety, manufacturing processes, or 6S as they arise * Other duties as assigned * Shift: 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM Qualifications: * Candidates must have 2 to 4 years of hands-on experience in assembly and troubleshooting complex systems. An Associate's degree in technical engineering OR a background in Technical Field Service is preferred. * Ability to work second shift: 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: * Knowledge of hardware, software, and control systems * Experience with manufacturing is preferred * Experience with MS Word and Excell preferred * Aptitude for identifying and resolving recurring problems * Good Interpersonal and communication skills to interface with assembly technicians, engineering, management, customers, sales, and marketing * Willingness to work overtime, holidays and weekends as required to meet company revenue requirements Physical Job Requirements: * Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs * Needs to be able to perform repetitive tasks while sitting or standing * Must be able to use standard hand tools and standard office equipment
