Strategic Business Developer

The Global Business Development team works across the business to analyze and determine future markets and customer offerings. We research and review market trends, changes in customer preferences, and product capabilities to determine how best to meet Tesla's mission of accelerating the world's transition to sustainable energy.

This role will focus on forecasting markets for energy storage, maintaining a clear view relative to market developments and policy impacts. With exposure to leadership decision-making around company growth, this role will be instrumental in managing the end-to-end forecasting methodology and improvement, including consideration of market sizing, opportunity cost evaluation, and data-driven review of how markets are evolving and how our products need to adapt to maintain competitive advantages.

• Develop forward-looking market models to guide sales team strategies across various regions
• Conduct in-depth research into wholesale markets and regulatory frameworks to support deal economics, including interconnection studies and market-specific tariffs
• Build and update financial models to assess the viability of energy storage projects in different countries
• Analyze new geographies, applications, and business models for energy storage solutions
• Monitor emerging industry trends through competitive intelligence and inform company-wide strategy, offers, and product updates
• Collaborate with sales teams to create robust business plans for energy storage initiatives

• Strong modeling, strategy, and program management skills
• Ability to work across multiple teams to gain input and consensus (from Autobidder, product, and sales leadership) concepts and support hypotheses with large, incomplete sets of data
• Experience presenting to internal executive teams
• Entrepreneurial mindset - a self-starter who can explore and qualify for opportunities with little direction
• Understanding of the energy industry; deep knowledge of energy storage technology and value proposition
• 4+ years in energy industry; 2+ years in energy storage
