What to Expect
As a Quality Technician in Tesla Castings, you play a critical role in ensuring that the foundation of every Model Y vehiclewhich is called Rear Underbody (RUB) structure meets the highest standards of precision, strength, and quality. You serve as the first line of defense against defects and a key contributor to Tesla's mission of building the safest and most advanced electric vehicles in the world.
What You'll Do
- Perform in-process and final inspections on RUB castings to ensure conformance to engineering specifications
- Identify, document, and escalate nonconformances or potential defects promptly and accurately
- Partner cross-functionally with Production, Process, Tool & Die, and Engineering teams to contain and resolve issues at the source
- Verify rework and repair quality prior to release to production operations
- Accurately identify defects and escalate per Standard Work Instructions (SWIs)
- Conduct visual and tactile inspections for surface defects such as porosity, cracks, dings, inclusions, or machining damage
- Adherence to all safety protocols and proper PPE usage in high-temperature and high-noise environments
What You'll Bring
- Proficiency in measurement techniques using precision tools such as calipers, gauges, and other measurement systems
- Strong understanding of quality standards and inspection methods used in Castings
- High attention to detail with the ability to identify subtle visual or dimensional variations
- Reliability, strong work ethic, ability to follow procedures and inspection standards
- Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment while maintaining accuracy and consistency
- Comfortable working in factory environment, which may include noise and temperature variation
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills for effective cross-functional collaboration; must have command of the English language, both written and verbal

Expected Compensation
$28.75 - $42.73/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
