The primary mission of The Counseling and Personal Development Center (CPDC) is to provide programs and outreach services that promote student engagement and support the emotional, psychological, physical, and intellectual development of students with diverse backgrounds.

The Certified Licensed Counselor for Alcohol and Other Drugs serves as a key member of the larger team of committed mental health professionals and promotes emotional well-being and support services to assist students with diverse backgrounds in their emotional, psychological, and intellectual development. The connection between mental health and substance use is significant, particularly as students navigate unique social and economic challenges. The number of alcohol and drug cases referred to counseling services by Student Conduct continues to rise, highlighting the need for specialized support.

The position is responsible for the delivery of comprehensive substance use counseling services specializing in alcohol and other drug therapy and mental health programs. The Alcohol and Other Drugs Counselor will focus on providing substance use therapy, coordinating the Collegiate Recovery Community Program, and conducting the Brief Alcohol Screening and Intervention for College Students ( BASICS) and Cannabis Screening and Intervention for College Students ( CASICS) sessions for students referred by Student Conduct. Additionally, this role will involve organizing workshops, overseeing the peer education program, and facilitating community outreach activities that promote holistic well-being and substance-free lifestyles. Currently, the Counseling and Personal Development Center's Counseling Team, along with the Director, is performing these duties.
