Job Summary

Under direction of the Associate Vice Chancellor (AVC) for Student Health and Wellness, provide direct executive analytical support and project and program coordination for the Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Health and Wellness in the Division of Student Affairs and as appropriate, select members of its executive team.

Handle business related matters, including communications, reports, scheduling, data collection, and project coordination. Research and collect relevant information and materials to ensure AVC and its executive team are properly briefed and prepared. Initiate follow-up actions and draft correspondence on behalf of senior leaders. Maintain confidentiality and discretion in all areas. Support the unit in special projects and initiatives.

Oversee AVC's electronic calendar, manage the AVC inbox, (with guidance) determine priorities and resolve scheduling conflicts to keep calendar manageable. Communicate tactfully and diplomatically with diverse groups of individuals. Maintain confidentiality and discretion in all areas.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

  • Bachelor's Degree in administration, public health, business, management, or other related area and or equivalent experience/training.
  • Experience performing complex analytical and project support functions in an executive-level office.
  • Experience researching and analyzing information.
  • Writing and editorial experience to produce clear, well-organized information; experience editing copy for correct grammar, spelling and punctuation.
  • Experience managing dynamic electronic calendars, and scheduling and coordinating large, complex meetings and special events.
  • Experience using various software programs (word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentation software, etc.) to accomplish assignments.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills to create and maintain professional collaborative working relationships with an acute understanding of customer service. Political acumen and collegial communication skills to interact with faculty, staff, students, the public, and persons at all levels of the hierarchy with varying levels of expertise, interest, and personal investment in the activities of the AVC.
  • Organizational skills to manage projects in a fast-paced environment with competing deadlines, and to establish goals and workload priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a higher education and/or health related environment; familiarity with higher education goals and/or health terminology.
  • Familiarity with campus wide offices, administrative contacts, campus structure and resources. Knowledge of and skill to interpret and apply UC Policies and procedures.

Department Overview

Student Health and Counseling Services (SHCS) provides primary care, mental health, urgent care, laboratory, pharmacy, health education and counseling services to registered UC Davis students. SHCS serves approximately 300 patients per day during the school year. The mission is to provide campus health and wellness resources that enable students to successfully achieve their academic goals and life-long wellness. SHCS has approximately 250 staff including managers, senior professionals, professional and support staff, student employees, interns and post doc residents. SHCS is accredited by AAAHC (Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care), and IACS (International Association for Counseling Services). Department Specific Job Scope

Services provided at UC Davis Student Health and Counseling Services include health care related to birth control education, contraception, pregnancy counseling, emergency contraception, sexual orientation, substance abuse and complementary medicine. It is the expectation that staff working here may need to set aside their personal beliefs and provide care and service that meets patients' needs and beliefs.

Work Environment

UC Davis is a smoke and tobacco free campus effective January 1, 2014. Smoking, the use of smokeless tobacco products, and the use of unregulated nicotine products (e-cigarettes) will be strictly prohibited on any UC Davis owned or leased property, indoors and outdoors, including parking lots and residential space.

This position is generally eligible for remote, hybrid, and/or flex work, while also requiring onsite work for specific meetings and programs each month.
