The Coordinator Pharmacy Technician II provides leadership and coordinates work related activities of all pharmacy technicians working within the designated pharmacy site. The position reports directly to the Pharmacy Manager II. The Coordinator Pharmacy Technician II is the primary management and communication link to the pharmacy technicians. The Coordinator Pharmacy Technician II performs all duties of the Pharmacy Tech II job description and is additionally responsible for scheduling all pharmacy technician work hours, assisting manager with monitoring of workflow in the pharmacy and adjusting technician work duties accordingly, monitoring of all pharmacy technician performance of daily responsibilities including date entry, dispensing, ordering and putting up inventory, tending to the robot, answering the telephone and telephone etiquette, completion of the KCA Refill adherence queue calls, and resolution of prescription related issues such as but not limited to prior authorizations, refill authorizations, rebills, partial fills, special orders. Coordinator Pharmacy Technician II will assist the Manager with providing feedback and coaching of pharmacy technician staff.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • 10% Monitors pharmacy workflow and pharmacy technician performance on an ongoing basis and manages any problems associated with job performance provided by pharmacy technicians and initiates appropriate decisions and solutions
  • 10% Schedules all pharmacy technician hours including weekdays, weekends, lunches and breaks. Assists the Manager II in maintaining appropriate pharmacy technician staffing ratios. Assigns workstation duties throughout the day including data entry, dispensing, robot duty, returning of inventory to the shelves, phone duty, filing of prescription, and Contact Manager or problem queue duty
  • 10% Performs in a pharmacy technician role and coordinates the daily operational activities of the pharmacy technician staff within the pharmacy
  • 10% Implements and monitors pharmacy technician performance standards, policies and procedures, and expectations
  • 10% Monitors the Contact Manager or problem queue, making sure any outstanding problems are followed until resolved
  • 5% Monitors the answering and handling of telephones by pharmacy technicians
  • 5% Assures that expiration dates of all medications in the pharmacy are checked monthly and documentation of this process is maintained. Assures expired meds are separated from the rest of inventory as approved by Manager II
  • 5% Assures all drug shelving in fronted and cleaned on a regular basis
  • 5% Assures that customer service needs at checkout are met by working with Pharmacy Services Representative Coordinator when pharmacy technician staff needed as back-up
  • 5% Remains accessible to the pharmacy technicians on a daily basis for purposed problem solving and planning of services provided by the pharmacy technicians
  • 5% Identifies and monitors methods to improve quality and efficiency of services provided by the pharmacy technicians
  • 5% Provides feedback to the Pharmacy Manager II regarding pharmacy technician staff and assists with employee performance evaluations
  • 10% Identifies performance problems at the time they occur, provides feedback to the employee in a timely manner and communicates this information to the Pharmacy Manager II
  • 3% Performs other duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager II
  • 2% Attends meetings as designated

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Texas State Board of Pharmacy Technician License
  • 3+ years of experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail setting
  • Proven good organizational skills and must be a self-starter
  • Proven ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Proven ability to train pharmacy technicians on the job duties, processes, and policies and procedures
  • Proven ability to work accurately and efficiently at all workstations in the pharmacy
  • Ability to type 30WPM
  • Proven superior communication skills both written and verbal. Must have strong math skills
  • Proven excellent customer service skills
  • Proven ability to remain calm under pressure and be able to adapt workflow under pressure

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program
  • PTCB Certification
  • KSC Retail Pharmacy experience

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $20.00 to $35.72 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
