Employment Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire
Salary- $65-70k

Vaco Staffing has partnered with a well-established and reputable construction company in Jacksonville to identify an experienced Bookkeeper for a critical direct hire opening. This position plays a key role in managing day-to-day accounting activities with a strong emphasis on general ledger reconciliations, bank reconciliations, billing support, and accurate financial recordkeeping. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and highly dependable, with a solid understanding of core accounting principles.

Responsibilities General Accounting & Reconciliations
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations across multiple accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

  • Conduct general ledger (GL) reconciliations; investigate, resolve, and document discrepancies promptly.

  • Prepare subledger reports and ensure all balances tie to the GL, researching variances when they occur.

  • Record financial transactions including journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.

  • Support month-end and year-end close activities.

Billing, AR/AP & Customer Support
  • Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed.

  • Reconcile AR balances, research discrepancies, and resolve billing issues.

  • Handle customer inquiries regarding invoices, payments, and statements.

  • Process customer invoices and maintain updated customer records.

  • Input purchase orders and ensure accuracy of related documentation.

Administrative & Compliance
  • Manage incoming and outgoing mail as part of daily office workflow.

  • Maintain organized financial files, supporting documentation, and audit records.

  • Assist in preparing financial reports for management review.

  • Collaborate with leadership during audits and financial reviews.

  • Ensure adherence to company policies, internal controls, and applicable accounting standards.

  • Answer phone calls and provide general office support as needed.

  • Perform other accounting or administrative duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Abilities
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles.

  • High attention to detail with excellent accuracy and organizational skills.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills; capable of working with cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to manage deadlines, prioritize tasks, and work well under pressure.

  • Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or similar platforms.

    • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations strongly preferred.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).

    Education & Experience
    • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.

    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in bookkeeping, staff accounting, AP/AR, or a corporate accounting role.

    • Experience supporting accounting functions in the construction industry is a plus, but not required.
