The mission of the Health Department is to provide health services that enhance and ensure the health of all Loudoun County residents. This is achieved by working with partners in the county and town governments, state and federal agencies, private organizations, and residents to protect the environment, prevent the spread of disease, and promote residents' health.

Job Summary
-
Under general direction, an incumbent in this class performs complex administrative, customer service, and special program support work for the Health Department, such as:
- Registers new patients and updates existing patient demographics by collecting patient detailed information.
- Schedules and confirm patient appointments, follow-ups, and procedures.
- Process billing and payment services, including insurance verification.
- Answers patients' questions and directs phone calls in a polite and friendly manner.
- Assists patients with forms and paperwork for income eligibility process.
- Organizes and maintains office files and patient records.
- Ensures compliance with medical laws and regulations.
- Maintains patient confidentiality following HIPAA guidelines.
- Collaborates with other administrative and healthcare staff on a regular basis.
- Orders office supplies.
- Other duties as assigned.
A position in this class normally does not have supervisory responsibilities but may direct volunteers, interns, temporarily restricted duty personnel, or other assigned staff on a limited basis to include task assignment and task direction. This position operates under the Clinical Administrative Manager.

Minimum Qualifications
-
High School diploma or equivalent; three (3) years of related clerical/administrative work experience with computer automated systems and office applications experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate degree or higher.
- Three (3) years of related clerical/administrative work experience (preferably in a non-profit or health department), with additional responsibility or expertise in data entry, cash handling, insurance verification, and customer service.
- Knowledge of healthcare systems and medical terminologies. Understanding of public health, medical billing procedures, compliance, and patient privacy regulations.
- Fluent in both English and Spanish.
