The Bai Lab (Basic Sciences Division) is looking for a motivated part-time Lab Aide to join our collaborative research team studying how neurons communicate to control behavior. Neuron communication underlies all brain functions, including movement, sensation, learning, and memory). Disruptions in these processes can lead to neurological disorders. Our lab uses a combination of genetic, biochemical, imaging, and electrophysiological approaches in C. elegans to uncover molecular and cellular mechanisms that regulate synaptic communication and neuronal network function.



Responsibilities

    Assist with neurogenetic experiments, including maintaining elegans strains and performing genetic crosses.
  • Prepare reagents, buffers, and media to support ongoing research projects.
  • Perform routine lab maintenance and organizational tasks.
  • Participate in lab meetings and contribute to discussions of experimental design and data interpretation.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed lab records.


Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent; OR,
  • High school senior with lab-based experience or demonstrated interest in the sciences

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Pursuing an undergraduate degree in a relevant biological field with a demonstrated track record of productive research and be able to work both independently and as part of a laboratory team.
  • Prior research experience in molecular biology, genetics, or neuroscience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with elegans genetics.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to follow protocols carefully.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and routine computer skills (PC/Mac) are necessary.
  • Be respectful to all members of the lab and broader Hutch community.

The hourly pay range for this position is from $20.76 to $30.13 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.

This position is not eligible for H1-B sponsorship at this time.
