Job Description

Post Doctoral Scholar to pursue research investigating immune responses in the skin against the protozoan parasite Leishmania under the guidance of scientific mentor in the Department of Microbial Infection amp; Immunity; designs, conducts, and evaluates research experiments; plans and executes advanced cellular biology, molecular biology, and/or flow cytometry techniques; develops, adopts and implements new laboratory methods; performs routine procedures on lab animals including surgical procedures and/or administration of drugs; analyzes and interprets data; writes research papers for publication; performs scientific literature searches; presents research findings at local, national, or international scientific meetings; applies for postdoctoral fellowships; assists PI with writing and submitting grant proposals to obtain extramural funding in support of research; performs scientific literature searches; participates in journal clubs, laboratory meetings, and Department seminars and activities; assists with training of other lab members.

Minimum Education Required

MD, PhD, or MD/PhD required.

Required Qualifications

Ability to interact in a highly multidisciplinary environment; experience with cellular biology, molecular biology, and/or flow cytometry research techniques and procedures desired; experience with animal handling and husbandry desired. Requires successful completion of a background check; qualified candidates may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical, including a drug screen.
