GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Manager of Employee Safety, the Employee Safety Generalist is responsible for; Assist in anticipating, identifying, evaluating and implementing controls to address potential workplace related hazards by reducing or eliminating employee safety. Must be a team player with excellent oral and written communication skills to support and work with employees, leadership, physicians and various external audiences.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assisting in the developing, creating acceptance of, and implementing means, methods and programs. Interprets regulations and assists in the development/implementation of strategies to ensure compliance with government regulations and company requirements.

2. Works closely with the Safety Specialist(s) and management to help develop strategies for the successful implementation of employee safety recommendations.

3. Responsible for writing, maintaining, and updating assigned program policy and procedures, and coordinating/delivering applicable employee training.

4. Conduct periodic employee safety and health walk-through inspections of all workplace facilities.

5. Assist in incident investigation management.

6. Work alongside managers/employees on employee safety issues

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety and Health or related field. One (1) year of employee safety/safety/clinical quality experience.
  • Must perform all elements of the job in a competent manner. Able to perform the essential functions of the job within reasonable accommodations. Is knowledgeable of MIOSHA and OSHA laws.
  • Skilled in the standards, concepts, practices, and procedures within the safety
  • Ability to adapt, respond and prioritize in a rapidly changing health care environment and ability to successfully manage multiple competing demands.
  • Support new program/initiative development, implementation and evaluation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and staff.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills including presentation skills.
  • Strong Computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, email, and internet navigation software.
  • Basic understanding of health care cultures including medical and nursing cultures. Sound decision-making skills and problem-solving skills.
