Oncology Nurse Practitioner

Boston Medical Center South - Brockton, MA

Boston Medical Center South (BMC South), a member of the Boston Medical Center Health System, is seeking an experiencedOncology Nurse Practitioner (NP)to join our multidisciplinary oncology team. This role supports the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered cancer care in a community-based setting closely integrated with an academic medical center.

Position Summary

The Oncology Nurse Practitioner will provide comprehensive care to adult oncology patients across the continuum, including outpatient clinic visits, symptom management, survivorship care, and coordination with medical oncology, infusion services, nursing, pharmacy, and ancillary teams. The ideal candidate will have prior oncology experience and thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment serving a diverse patient population.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct clinical care to adult oncology patients, including assessment, diagnosis, and management of cancer-related conditions and treatment side effects

  • Conduct new and follow-up patient visits, including chemotherapy/toxicity checks, supportive care, and survivorship visits

  • Collaborate closely with medical oncologists to develop and implement individualized treatment plans

  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, laboratory studies, and imaging as appropriate

  • Prescribe medications and supportive therapies in accordance with scope of practice and institutional guidelines

  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, symptom management, and care plans

  • Coordinate care with infusion services, radiation oncology, surgical oncology, palliative care, social work, and other interdisciplinary team members

  • Document clinical encounters accurately and timely in the electronic medical record

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical protocols, and program development as applicable

  • Support a culture of safety, equity, and patient-centered care


Qualifications

  • Master's degree or Doctorate in Nursing from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program

  • Board certification as an Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (AGNP) or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)

  • Active Massachusetts RN and NP license or ability to obtain prior to start

  • Minimum of 2 years of oncology experienceas a Nurse Practitioner or Registered Nurse (oncology setting required)

  • Chemotherapy/biotherapy competency or willingness to obtain

  • Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Commitment to caring for an underserved and diverse patient population


Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in medical oncology outpatient practice

  • Experience working in a community-based oncology program affiliated with an academic medical center

  • Bilingual skills are a plus

Compensation Range:

$104,000.00- $151,000.00

This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer. This includes education, experience, skills, and certifications/licensures as they directly relate to position requirements; as well as business/organizational needs, internal equity, and market-competitiveness. In addition, BMCHS offers generous total compensation that includes, but is not limited to, benefits (medical, dental, vision, pharmacy), discretionary annual bonuses and merit increases, Flexible Spending Accounts, 403(b) savings matches, paid time off, career advancement opportunities, and resources to support employee and family well-being.
