Intern - Athlete Availability

As part of High Performance Department, The Intern - Athlete Availability will support the Milwaukee Brewers Baseball Club's (MBBC) application of sport science to enhance baseball performance. This entry-level position will be embedded within the High-Performance staff and will work closely with Player Health and Player Performance departments. The Intern will assist in collecting data, basic data analysis and interpretation, and supporting research strategies under the guidance of senior staff. This role is intended for individuals seeking hands-on experience in professional baseball with an emphasis on learning and foundational contribution.

Core duties for this role include, but are not limited to:

Under the direction of Lead Strategist - Athlete Availability, support the implementation of organizational initiatives including but limited to the deployment of technology within training contexts, adhering to data collection best practices, and piloting new technologies.
• Assist in day-to-day operations of the High-Performance unit in Arizona as it pertains to equipment functionality, data collection, and basic data cleaning and data interpretation including but not limited to physiological readiness, external and internal workload, and athletic capacity.
• Assist with High Performance assessments including but not limited to upper extremity and lower extremity force outputs, metabolic testing, subjective questionnaires, etc., ensuring valid and reliable data to support High Performance staff decision-making.

The ideal candidate must be pursuing or already completed a bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; applicable experience in a baseball-related capacity strongly preferred.

• Knowledge of fields including, but not limited to: Anatomy & Physiology, Exercise Physiology, Strength and Conditioning, Sports Medicine, Motor Control, or Neurophysiology.
• Prior experience utilizing applied technologies to assist with player performance assessment and monitoring including data visualization (AMS, Force Plates, Excel, Power BI, Tableau, etc.) preferred.
• General knowledge about baseball preferred.
