Job Title: Construction Specialist.
Location: White Plains, NY.

Project Overview:
  • Supports Generation, Transmission, Renewables and Canals projects and work providing EHS oversight for Contractors. Works with site EHS teams to ensure coverage in each region for all work being performed.
Job Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Reviews HASP submitted by contractors to ensure job task hazards are identified and mitigation plans are documented.
  • Ensures Contractors have adequate training for task being performed.
  • Provides frequent on-site reviews of contractor's work, providing written summary of gaps and issues with contractor's workforce, workplace and work plan.
  • Ensures corrective actions are developed and implemented for identified gaps.
  • Stop Work when conditions exist that could result in a potentially significant injury or fatality.
  • Ensure daily job briefs are conducted.
  • Coaches Contractor employees and Subs to ensure they utilize proper PPE.
  • Leads and participates with Incident investigations.
  • Assist Project Delivery and Management staff with various safety and environmental questions and matters.
  • Coordinates with emergency service organizations.
  • Attends contractor safety committee meetings.
  • Support leadership in the preparation of internal reports by gathering data as requested.
  • Executes other EHS task requested by management.
Skills:
  • Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations and guidelines covering safety, health and environmental aspects.
  • Incident Investigation (RCA) trained - Knowledge of Power Generation, transmission systems, renewables and components.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects/Task concurrently.
  • Knowledge of and experience with workplace hazards for construction, electric utility, transmission substations and right of ways.
  • Ability to work closely with site/region leadership in a matrixed fashion.
Education and Certifications:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • If no degree minimum of 2-5 years EHS experience required - Transmission/ROW EHS experience preferred.
  • Certifications preferred (CSP - ASP - CIH - CHST) - First Aid.
  • CPR certification required.
