We are searching for a dynamic and motivated Machinist IV to join our team at our Bloomfield, Connecticut location. Night shift hours are 3:15pm to 12:45am Monday through Friday, as business needs currently require one hour of mandatory daily overtime.

Summary:

Responsibilities:



  • Independently, sets up, adjusts, troubleshoots and checks out programming and operates numerically controlled machine tools to perform a complex series of progressive machining operations on a diversified line of work to close and exacting tolerances and finish specifications requiring a high degree of skill.
  • Setups involve familiarity with and understanding of program formats involving combinations of operations such as milling, boring, recessing, turning, drilling, threading, screw machine operation, etc., to the capacity of the machine and control factor
  • Works from programming instructions, operational data and machine setup instructions defining and coding tool arrangements, material clamping methods, machine calibrations and console settings.
  • Checks parts for conformance to specifications.
  • Perform all responsibilities within productivity and quality expectations.
  • Maintain clean and safe work environment. Follow safety and environmental procedures and regulations. Report safety incidents to supervisor.
  • Make recommendations for improvements to work processes. Contribute to 5S program in work area.
  • Provide a high level of service to all internal and external customers. Contribute to positive teamwork environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. Participate in learning other positions. Accomplish related results as needed.


Education:



  • High school diploma or equivalent; Machining Certificate preferred


Experience:



  • Minimum of 4 years manufacturing experience as CNC Machinist


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:



  • Able to prescribe an appropriate inspection method based on a wide range of GD&T callouts
  • Proficient in use of shop math
  • Provide technical supervision/training to less experienced team members
  • Work independently, no supervision
  • Ability to troubleshoot programing and process issues
  • Has working knowledge of the relationship between federate and surface finish, as well as surface speed to material type, of most standard aerospace materials
  • Familiar with operating of live tooling and sub-spindle machines and can set-up and operate as required
  • Performs setups on multi-axis CNCs within established time standards

  • Continual standing
  • Frequent mental and visual attention
  • Frequent bending, twisting
  • Frequent grasping items and tools
  • Occasional (15-40%) lifting and moving materials up to 50 lbs.
