Job Summary
The OB/GYN Laborist Role A is an in-house position which ensures that safe, high quality, evidence-based care is provided to obstetric patients and that hospital resources are managed in a clinically appropriate way. In sites where residents and/or medical students are present this may include resident supervision and education. The OB/GYN Laborist Role A is the primary, first line provider who is expected to be immediately available and present during the entirety of their shift.
Essential Functions
ASSIGNMENT: 24 Hour In-House Call Coverage Program LOCATION: High volume labor and delivery units (>3,000 deliveries per year)
- Prioritization of pending labor inductions - Prioritization of pending cesarean deliveries
a. have had no prenatal care i. the provider is taking call from home and there is emergent clinical situation which cannot safely wait for the provider to arrive
a. Accepting of all medically appropriate transfers b. Informing all relevant members of the obstetric/neonatal team of pending arrival of transfer
a. Second opinions for fetal heart rate interpretations
a. Triage evaluation and management
