Job Summary

We are seeking a Principal Manufacturing Engineer to join our Camden team! This individual will be required to plan, design and construct manufacturing facilities and related structures. Determines facility specifications, including analysis and evaluation of location, material resources and structural design. Resolve technical problems and recommends production improvements.

Essential Functions

  • Develops, evaluates, and improves industrial manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.
  • Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
  • Determines the parts, equipment, tools, and processes needed in order to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specifications.
  • Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
  • Communicates manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, or other information to facilitate production processes.
  • Confers with vendors in order to determine specifications of products and arrange equipment, material purchase, and parts.
  • Evaluates products based on specifications and quality standards.



Required Qualifications

  • Required education and experience: Associate's Degree and 8-10 years' experience
  • Discipline/Major: Engineering degree required
  • Critical professional related technical skills; computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)


Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferred education and experience: Bachelor's Degree
  • Knowledge, skills & abilities: 5S methodology. As-Is analysis. Manufacturing Engineering. Failure analysis. Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T). Integrity engineering. Lean manufacturing. Process integration. Production engineering. Rapid prototyping. Statistical process control. Value engineering. Workflow optimization. Workload analysis. CAD software. Computer-aided engineering (CAE) software. Oral and written communication. Critical thinking. Analytical thinking.


Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
  • Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
  • May need to stand for long periods of time.
  • Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
  • Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.
  • This position is Safety-Sensitive.
