Responsibilities:

  • Classify imported products under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) of the U.S. Determine most favored nation (MFN) duty rates along additional duty rates imposed under various statutes and executive orders.

  • Ensure compliance with partner government agency (PGA) import requirements including Food and Drug Administration, Environmental Protection Agency, and Department of Transportation.

  • Prepare and file post-summary corrections and protests with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

  • Conduct post-entry reviews on entry summaries filed with CBP and advise divisions and subsidiaries of action items and recommendations.

  • Maintain and store electronic records related to company importations in accordance with company policies and customs requirements.

  • Perform other administrative duties for the department, as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in an import compliance field.

  • Experience using global trade management platforms (e.g., Visual Compliance).

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to work independently.

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.

  • Customs broker license a plus.

For residents of New York City, New York, California, Washington, Ohio and Illinois as required under applicable pay transparency laws, the expected salary range for this position if filled remotely is $66,506 - $83,133. Pay is determined based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, depth of experience in the practice area. Employees are eligible to participate in Hitachi America's variable pay program, subject to the program's conditions and restrictions.
